Navigation The Table of Contents is always visible in the frame on the left side of your browser window. It uses a tree-type menu system to show the items you are most interested in, and to hide the others. Along the left side, you will see [+] and [-] icons next to menu topics. Click on [+] to reveal items within a topic, and click on [-] to hide them. At the top of the menu, click [+] on the left to expand the entire menu. Click [-] on the right to collapse the entire menu. If you are using an older computer, it may take a few seconds for the menu to redraw. Within a topic, individual pages are marked by a white diamond. Click once on the page title to display the page in the main frame. The page you selected will be marked by a red diamond in the menu. You can expand/contract the menu frame by clicking and dragging the vertical bar to its right. You can also switch to a static menu by selecting "Static menu" in the title bar. This is useful for older browsers and slower computers that redraw the dynamic menu slowly. Auction contents The lots in each auction are displayed as they are in our printed catalog; in order by lot number. Many lots are accompanied by a thumbnail photo. If you click once on the thumbnail, a larger image will display in a new browser window. You may display several enlargements at one time if you want to compare several stamps, but for best browser performance avoid having too many windows open at one time. If the enlargement does not display, please check that your browser preference settings allow pop-up windows, or, if you disallow pop-ups, that you have excepted the URL for our domain (www.destamps.com. Prices Prices realized in past auctions are displayed on several pages. When you select prices for a particular auction, the first page is displayed in the main frame. Page through all the prices for that auction by using the prev/next links at the top and bottom of each page, or use the little pop-up menu in the center of the navigation bar to go directly to a page. We do not include lot descriptions, since most folks are interested only in the particular lots they were bidding on. If you click on the lot number, though, its image will pop up in a new window. To print the prices-realized list easily, click on the printer-friendly version link at the top of any page. This will open a new window with the entire list in a simple format for hard copy printing. If the new window does not display, please check your browser settings for pop-ups (see Auction contents above.) Searches The starting page for searches has some help tips. Remember that the search is not perfect. If you don't find what you're looking for, please call, email or write, or browse the catalog using the table of contents. Browsers We've tested the site with several OS-Browser-Hardware combinations, and offer our results below. Navigator handles our javascript (dynamic menus and pop-up windows) best. Safari is very fast but doesn't wrap the dynamic menu items legibly. Explorer is slow redrawing the dynamic menus on Mac hardware. Opera has apparently stopped upgrading its Mac version. We've modified the some of the site's code to support WebTV, but WebTV users will not find the site as convenient as computer users. Your mileage may vary.
